about

‘Margot Said’ was written in 2005, returning from London, a little lost, not sure what to do, no work. It’s an ode to the 1920s. Of a rich older lady spending her days on expensive ships, travelling the world. Alongside ‘battle for little bohemia’ and ‘one man’s love’ it follows the S & C tradition of narrative based songs, and she’ll pop up again in some of the new songs coming in 2024.

It’s for my brother Nick, who in 2005 was listening to me playing, and was surprised at how good the songs sounded. The military style drumming from Aaron is a beautiful manoeuvre and takes the listener out to the Orient, with Margot. Spending days on a ship, wined and dined, getting smashed on cocktails, smoking your life away. What’s not to like?

Peace and love as always.

Russ & Aaron.
